2 weeks to go

After two weeks I'm gonna take off and start my trip to California. Last days have been funny. Well day turns to weeks and weeks have became months, still my legs stay unrecovered. I were at masseur. He was telling me how finnish people fail with recover. If you get people to have some easy biking to recover. They might stay on easy for 40minutes. Then they realize that they are going to stop in 5minutes and they are hardly sweatting. They start to push with full power and fail the whole practice with that.

Sounds so much like my practices. Ouh, atleast I realized what was happening when I were having my last 5minutes one day after the masseur. I felt so stupid.. everything went just the way masseur had told me!

So I stopped those recovery-practices and went to play some american football today. I was trying to see that making good influence to BMX. Atleast tackling is same kind of pumping as pumping is. That's pretty much all common things I was able to find with BMX and american football :) But I enjoyed it!

Didactic methods

I read a book about didactic methods (teaching methods). I found it really interesting. For real! One way of learning is to learn from difficult to easy. Meaning once you try to learn to ride unicycle, it's easy to ride two-wheeled :)

And after Christmas I may publish my new t-shirt designed for training camp in California

BMX Xmas

All the hurries are behind me now. The trip to California is looming ahead, maybe a bit confusing, but it’s nice to go. Now I’m going to relax and spend some time with the family; hence I had to take my BMX to the garage (only for today). Merry Christmas to all of you! p.s. the GT speed series pro in the picture is for sale, 450

Brainwashing god daughter, after she told
me that she's never going to ride a bike

Sorry I forgot to put this info in english!!

On Friday night at Helsinki I noticed that I have forgot to take my passport with me. On Finnair and Norwegian airlines' websites was mentioned that you are able to travel with drivers license on flights between nordic countries. We were flying with Blue1. Just in case my mum put my passport to come to the airport with some random guy. I was able to get to the flight with my drivers licence, and on the way back I didn't need to show any ID.

Next to the Copenhagen's BMX track in hostel (link: Danhostel Amager). If you take a privat room you are allowed to take your bike inside. Otherwise there is a stock outside. There is quest kitchen in the hostel. Price of the hostel is reasonable for hostel, but it doesn't include anything else than sleeping. For sheets, towels etc you had to pay. If you want to stay in hostel you need to buy hostel card. Public transport is easy to use from and to hostel, but I recommend to have bike bag with wheels.

New info was that it costs 14 euros for day to race on Copenhagen's track.

BMX South building is rented for 12 years. Building is about 5000m2 (I would say 4000m2). Rent for one month is 4000euros (I have to check that!). To drive from Copenhagen to Jutland takes 3hours by car. There is atleast one toll bridge on the way. Wikipedia says that price is 31 euros. On monday and Wednesday evenings there is "public" practices in the BMX South.
Practices were hold by Casper Bruhn. Three hour practices included: warm up, getting know to track, gate practices, wheelie (on flatland and on track), free ride, and cooling down.

With my on this trip was Hannu Salin. It looked smooth when Hannu ride those tracks.

The first proto

Days are rainy, cold and dark in Finland at the moment. I haven't been able to ride my bike since Copenhagen. Well ofcourse I need time to recover etc.

Finally I solve the very first problem I have had since I started BMX. Well lets say, since I learned to ride a bike. It's still all about wheelie. Now I made the first proto of "wheelie machine". I feel it confortable to practice wheelie with this! Still I'm dreaming that rear wheel could move forth and back..

Withdrawal symptoms

I'm sitting still and trembling, my mind is restless. I try to breathe deep, but anyhow I'm not getting enough oxygen. My hands and legs shakes, it feels like my heath is shaking too. I know this feeling. I just was three days on BMX track and ahead; I might have 4 weeks without track. I don't belive that, but anyway I'm afraid for real.

Knowledge from Copenhagen is still only smoothie in my head, but feelings are clear. I got this big grin on my face all the way to home. It even started to irritate me. The grin wasn't because of been happy for coming home, it was more for that journey to Copenhagen had been absolutely smashing!

First day and we were on "world championship" -track. The very first time I try to wheelie, it just went smoothlie over to the second pump. It was highlight of this journey. It's coming! After the first time I managed to wheelie only couple times. Anyway I remember the feeling how the rear wheel rolls lightly between two pumps and front wheel hits the landing. Gee, that rocks.

Other thing which I want to mention is BMX South indoor track. That is an awesome place! BMX Club of Copenhagen had rented the track for Sunday. Day rent was 1500 danish krones (200 euros). It includes 3 hours time on track and coach. We were able to join carpool from Copenhagen to Jutland. With everything I have found Copenhagen BMX Club to be very kind.

For tomorrow I'm going to bring up some facts. I have whole night time for remembering, cos I'm not going to fall asleep with this pulse :)

Like pro-racers

I have been suprised how mush time BMX takes even if I don't practice at all. I have had couple days total rest, but anyway my days are fully booked with BMX. Got to plan training camp, sponsor deals and the latest time eater is analizing videos. I try to find out how come my wheelie is what it is; stiff, sluggish and wary.

I want to make myself clear; even that BMX is taking all the time, I'm willingly using all my time for it. If I got some free time, I see myself using it to BMX too. Forexamble I read a book about BMX. It was publiched 2005 and showcase for BMX-racing contains following photos:

On Sunday in BMXSOUTH indoor track in Jutland. And Monday back in Copenhagen, or we might check also track in Roskilde. It's going to be fun!

Winter makes it more challenging

But finally I'm home. There is not much to say about practicing so at first some pictures from Copenhagen:

Fixing bike with hammer :/

On the way home I took part to fixing day of Lahti's BMX track. Track looked really good. Can't wait to ride there!
